JON TRENCHARD

Jon is an actor, musician, singer, musical director and composer. He was an Oxford choral scholar, an organist, and a Cathedral Lay Clerk, before training at the London Academy of Performing Arts in Classical Acting and Musical Theatre.

 

Since then, he has appeared on stages across the world, including The West End and BAM in New York, as well as extensive touring around the UK. Whilst an actor in Edward Hall’s all male Shakespeare company Propeller since 2006, he also arranged, composed and provided musical direction for their RICHARD III, THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, TWELFTH NIGHT and THE TAMING OF THE SHREW (nominated for the NYC Drama Desk Award for Best Music For A Play in 2007).

 

He has been musical director for the Bristol Old Vic’s productions of SWALLOWS & AMAZONS in the West End, and A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, in collaboration with Handspring Puppet Company. He has also arranged, composed and directed music for Bruiser’s THE SECRET DIARIES OF ADRIAN MOLE AGED 13 3/4, and for Hostpur Theatre company’s THE PETWORTH PLAYS, and DEAD OF NIGHT at the Mill at Sonning.

 

As an actor-musician, he plays flute, piccolo, piano, accordion, tenor saxophone and euphonium.
